Announced earlier this summer, distributor Marvelous has revealed a new commercial spot for the upcoming Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto OVA. It’s a quick one to be sure but it hits some pretty neat moments of animation and intensity that certainly sets a tone. The OVA is working off of the novel Tokyo Ghoul: Hibi, which was written by Shin Towada. The book basically gave us some short stories that deals with the daily lives of the ghouls and people that exist in the larger framework. The anime adaptation will be working off of the third story in it that revolves around how Shuu and Chie met prior to the main storyline. The project is being done as a single episode OVA that will be released on December 25th, 2016.
The OVA is being directed by Tadahito Matsubayashi based on the script from Soichi Shimada and it’s being animated by Studio Pierrot. It’s been revealed that Mamoru Miyano will return to play Shuu in the OVA while Megumi Han is on board as Chie.
Property concept: Strange murders are happening in Tokyo. Due to liquid evidence at the scene, the police conclude the attacks are the results of “eater” type ghouls. College buddies Kaneki and Hide come up with the idea that ghouls are imitating humans so that’s why they haven’t ever seen one. Little did they know that their theory may very well become reality.
