After a pretty solidly performing film that was released earlier this year with Crayon Shin-Chan: My Moving Story! Cactus Large Attack!, it’s no surprise that the franchise is back for another go around in 2016. The 24th film in the franchise will debut on April 16th, 2016 in Japan with Crayon Shin-chan the Movie Fast Asleep! The Large Attack on the Dreaming World. The new work brings back Wataru Takanashi to direct based on the script and ideas from Hitori Gekidan and Takanashi.
FUNimation previously released some of the TV series in dub-only form years ago. Check out the trailer for this year’s film release below.
Original concept: Crayon Shin-chan follows the wacky antics and adventures of five-year-old Shinnosuke “Shin” Nohara and his parents, neighbors, and friends and is set in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
Many of the jokes in the series stem from Shin-chan’s occasionally weird, unnatural and inappropriate use of language, as well as from his inappropriate behavior. A typical gag involves Shin-chan confounding his parents by using the wrong phrase for the occasion; for example, saying “Welcome back!” instead of “I am back!” when he comes home.
