While a lot of attention is mostly focused on the second film in the Initial D new theatrical phase, a great piece has come in for the third and final film, Initial D the Movie Legend 3: Half Awake, Half Asleep. The third film is scheduled for a February 6th, 2016 debut and the latest key visual for it has arrived via the official site. The third and final film of the series doesn’t have a lot of detail to it yet, but it was originally set to land in the spring of 2016 and getting it earlier is definitely a plus. The second film is currently scheduled for a November 4th, 2015 debut after showing in theaters this past May.
The cast for the films includes:
- Mamoru Miyano as Takumi Fujiwara
- Yūichi Nakamura as Keisuke Takahashi
- Daisuke Ono as Ryōsuke Takahashi
- Maaya Uchida as Natsuki Mogi
- Minoru Shiraishi as Itsuki Takeuchi
- Hiroaki Hirata as Bunta Fujiwara
The first film was directed by Masamitsu Hidaka and Sanzigen and LIDEN FILMS based on the screenplay by Mayori Sekijima.
The manga, which began back in 1995, has had multiple anime adaptations over the years while the manga itself has done solidly and appealed to the region in which it takes place as well. The property even had a live action adaptation along the way.
Property concept: High school student Takumi Fujiwara works as a gas station attendant during the day and a delivery boy for his father’s tofu shop during late nights. Little does he know that his precise driving skills and his father’s modified Toyota Sprinter AE86 Trueno make him the best amateur road racer on Mt. Akina’s highway. Because of this, racing groups from all over the Gunma prefecture issue challenges to Takumi to see if he really has what it takes to be a road legend.
