One of the more Western friendly series of the last few years, it looks like Tiger & Bunny is going to capitalize on that with a live action film. Sunrise revealed this weekend that a film is being produced with Imagine Entertainment, which is Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s company, partnering with All Nipping entertainment and Bandai Namco Pictures produced Masayuki Ozaki to get it off the ground. The film is being overseen by Imagine’s president, Erica Huggins.

“During the deal talks, our chief focus was to ensure continuing involvement by the original creators to maintain quality and flexibility which would allow the original work to continue,” said Ozaki.

With a TV series and two feature anime films that delves into superheroes and advertising in creative ways, you can see why this one gets the nod and can likely work out pretty well. The anime and the manga works have been released here by Viz Media.

Plot concept: Sternbild City is home to people called “Next,” who use their special abilities to protect the people as superheroes. These heroes solve cases and save lives so they can wear sponsor logos or acquire “hero points.” Their activities are documented on the popular program “Hero TV,” which picks the “King of Heroes” in a yearly ranking. The veteran hero Wild Tiger has always preferred to work alone, but now he’s been assigned the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr., who has a different perspective on being a superhero.
