With five OVAs bundled with the manga series so far combined with the general popularity of the first two Magi series and the ongoing Magi manga, it really seemed like it was only a matter of time before Magi: Adveneture of Sinbad would get its own TV series.
And that time looks to be 2016 as the official site has revealed that a TV series is in production that will debut in April 2016 as part of the Animeism block on MBS as part of the spring 2016 anime season.
The TV series will be utilizing what we’ve seen with the manga bundled anime episodes where it’ll be directed by Yoshikazu Miyao based on scripts by Taku Kishimoto. It’s being animated at Lay-duce with Souichirou Sako handling the character designs.
The cast includes Daisuke Ono as Sinbad, Akira Ishida as Yunan, Tomokazu Sugita as Drakon, Ai Kayano as Serendine, Katsuyki Konishi as Badr, Yoko Hikasa as Esra, Keiji Fujiawara as Hinahoho, Takahiro Sakurai as Jafar, Ayumi Fujimura as Pipirika, Takehito Koyasu as Barbarossa and Hiroki Touchi as Baal.
The series takes place thirty years before the main Magi series and focuses on the young Sinbad as he goes on his journey’s that leads to him becoming king.

Can’t wait for this. Wonder if they’ll readapt the OVA’s or just edit them to fit into the show. Either way, hopefully they add more scenes, since I’ve heard that they skipped through a lot of content and rush through others. Hopfully by the time this finishes, they’ll be enough material for a 3rd season of Magi.
