Yen Press has been having solid sales numbers on the Akame ga KILL! series as we see with the New York Times Best Seller lists and that means they’re going after the additional material. That’s coming in the form of a license pickup of Akame ga KILL! Zero, a prequel series that’s written by Takahiro with artwork by Kei Toru. The book began in Big Gangan back in the fall of 2013 and there’s not a lot of material overall for it yet. Yen Press is looking to bring out the first volume in the spring of 2016.
Plot concept: The “dark action” story will take place a few years before the events in the original fantasy series. The prequel will center on the title character Akame, a girl bought, brainwashed, and raised by the Empire as an assassin.
Good news for Akame fans and lovers of great manga in general: AKAME GA KILL! ZERO is officially on tap for next Spring!
