The Saturday night cable ratings have come in and while anime dominated last week with the debut of Akame ga Kill!, the properties couldn’t sustain that lead against rebroadcast sitcoms in the overnight market.
With the current evergreen series of Big Bang Theory, American Dad and Family Guy taking up the top spots, it’s Dragon Ball Z Kai that takes the lead for anime with fifth place position. Akame ga Kill! lands eighth place while Michicko & Hatchin drop to twelfth place. For Akame ga Kill, it went from a 0.9 to a 0.7 for this week and lost about 400,000 viewers compared to the premiere. By comparison, Dragon Ball Z Kai went from a 1.0 to a .07 and lost about 300,000 viewers, going from 2.02 million to just under 1.7 million.

I’d still say that 1.4 million for Akame ga Kill is still good. 20% dropoff from the 1st week is perfectly acceptable, means that it has good audience retention. Michiko also proving to be a strong performer so Toonami has a great front end now for its block(with SAO II and Shippuden carrying the middle solidly)
I think what people don’t realize is that last week was Resurrection F so that with an arguable weaker Saturday gave AgK the ratings.
Akame still seems to be doing pretty well for itself. Would only worry if the viewer count went under 1 million before most of it’s run.
Good. Garbage doesn’t deserve ratings.
Got to be honest. The article title suggested worse, to me at least. We’re just talking first week debut to following week drop off. Minor for now. I’m more interested in this in 6 weeks.
The dub?
