FUNimation kicked off their Broadcast Dubs last night and revealed the information for Sky Wizards Academy for it just beforehand. The series will be coming out in English language form every Wednesday at 8pm ET for fans watching on FUNimation and they’ve got a small cast detailed for it so far. The preview clip below lets us get a good handle not only on how they’ll be performing but also some of how the show is, particularly with its amount of perviness described relatively early on.

The series is directed by Takayuki Inagaki based on scripts by Hiroshi Yamaguchi at Diomedia. The Japanese cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kanata Age, Nozomi Yamamoto as Misora Whitale, Nao Tōyama as Lecty Eisenach, Iori Nomizu as Rico Flamel, Risa Taneda as Yuri Flostre, Yuuki Yamada as Chloe Sevegny, Saeko Zōgō as Freon Flamel and Tetsuya Kakihara as Lloyd Alwyn.
The title comes from Yu Moroboshi with artwork by Mikihiro Amami that began in 2013 and had its fifth installment due out at the end of November last year. Not surprisingly, a manga adaptation kicked off as well last summer in Monthly Comic Alive with Arisu Shidou handling that adaptation.
Plot concept: Forced to retreat to floating cities due to an invasion of magical armored insects, humanity must now depend on Sky Wizards to battle the menace via mid-air battles. Once known as the “Black Master Swordsman,” Kanata Age is now considered a traitor and is assigned to lead an F-class of mismatched mages. Misora Whitale has all the enthusiasm to be a leader, but she’s failed 100 consecutive tests. Rico Flamel is a genius sniper, but she’s a little self-absorbed, and Lecty Eisenach is a candidate with all the ambition but zero confidence. It’s up to Kanata Age to train the troubled trio to become accomplished Sky Wizards.
I watched this last night. I actually really like it.
I have to wonder at the expense of a dub for this show. This show just isn’t exceptional, certainly not by the standards of this season. It’s a decent show, but exceptional enough to merit a dub? I don’t see it yet.
