2 min read

Kantai CollectionAt a new event for the property over the weekend in Japan, it was revealed that an anime feature has been put into production for Kantai Collection: KanColle. Or rather, one has been in production for awhile now as it’s being planned for a 2016 release and these films are not made quickly for the most part. With a second season coming next year as well and some very strong home video sales, fans of the property have a lot to look forward to next year.

The TV series starred Sumire Uesaka as Fubuki, Saki Fujita as Akagi, and Yuka Iguchi as Kaga. The series was animated at studio Diomedea with Keizo Kusakawa directing based on scripts by Jukki Hanada. Character designs are done by Naomi Ide and Mayuko Matsumoto, who also served as the chief animation directors.

Plot concept: Set in a world where humanity has lost control of the oceans to the “deep sea fleet,” the only hope to counter this threat are the Kanmusu, a group of girls who possess the spirit of Japanese warships. The story revolves around Fubuki, a destroyer who comes to the Chinjufu base to train with other Kanmusu. Watch as their stories unfold!
