2 min read

God Eater Hulu HeaderThe path for God Eater in its anime incarnation has been kind of all over the map, with a delayed premiere, a Daisuki run to kick things off and then the Japanese releases being Blu-ray only. Now fans have a new chance and way to catch the show as the first episode is now streaming on Hulu, which for some may be a more accessible form than Daisuki is. Unfortunately though, Hulu currently don’t have the rights to make this show available on your TV or mobile devices. So it’s strictly web viewing.

The show has set Takayuki Hirao to direct it. Hirao has a solid backgruond to be sure and has done work for the games, but he also worked on the Gyo OVA, which is hilariously vicious, as well as the fifth installment of the Garden of Sinners project. The project has also brought on board Keita Shimizu to handle the character designs for the series, which will be interesting as he handled the animation on Fate/Zero.

The cast includes Ryuichi Kijima as Renka Utsugi, Hiroaki Hirata as Lindow Amamiya, Maaya Sakamoto as Alisa Illinichina Amiella, Kazuya Nakai as Soma Schicksal, Daisuke Sakaguchi as Kota Fujiki and Sayaka Ohara as Sakuya.

Plot concept: The Far East, 2071. The domain of the mad gods. In the early 2050s, unknown life forms called “Oracle cells” begin their uncontrolled consumption of all life on Earth. Their ravenous appetite and remarkable adaptability earn them first dread, then awe, and finally the name “aragami”. In the face of an enemy completely immune to conventional weapons, urban civilization collapses, and each day humanity is driven further and further toward extinction. One single ray of hope remains for humanity. Following the development of “God Arcs”—living weapons which incorporate Oracle cells—their wielders are organized into an elite force. In a world ravaged by mad gods, these “God Eaters” fight a desperate war…
