‘Monster Musume’ Gets New Japanese Anime DVD/BD Release Promo

3 min read

Monster Musume HeaderThe summer 2015 anime series Monster Musume is getting its home video release in Japan handled by TOHO and after revealing the information previously, they’ve now got a new promo for it. Getting fans to put in preorders early continues to be a big deal for businesses in general since it provides guidance on how much to manufacture, and how much for retail stores to order, so it’s no surprise that the promotion begins as soon as the series begins its broadcast. The series is being released in limited edition form for both formats where the twelve episode run will be getting Blu-ray’s priced at 6,800 yen each and DVDs priced at 5,800 yen each. Each release looks to come with a one page of new manga from the original creator as well as a calendar/picture book and a jacket card.

Monster Musume is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara based on the overall series composition and scripting by Kazuyuki Fueyasu. Tatsuya Sunagawa is doing double duty as the animation director and character designer and the series is going to be animated at Lerche and Seva.

The cast announced so far includes Sora Amamiya as Miia, Ami Koshimizu as Papi and Natsuki Aikawa as Centorea, Mayuka Nomura as Suu, Huruka Yamazaki as Meroune “Mero” Lorelei, Sakura Nakamura as Rachnera “Rachnee” Arachnera, Yuu Kobayashi as Ms. Smith and Junji Majima as Kurusu Kimihoto.

Seven Seas Entertainment is currently releasing the manga in North America and they’ve just released the sixth volume themselves recently, having caught up quickly to the Japanese release side overall.

Plot concept: Monsters—they’re real, and they want to date us! Three years ago, the world learned that harpies, centaurs, catgirls, and all manners of fabulous creatures are not merely fiction; they are flesh and blood—not to mention scale, feather, horn, and fang. Thanks to the “Cultural Exchange Between Species Act,” these once-mythical creatures have assimilated into society, or at least, they’re trying.

When a hapless human named Kurusu Kimihito is inducted as a “volunteer” into the government exchange program, his world is turned upside down. A snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu’s job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life. Unfortunately for Kurusu, Miia is undeniably sexy, and the law against interspecies breeding is very strict. Even worse, when a ravishing centaur girl and a flirtatious harpy move in, what’s a full-blooded young man with raging hormones to do?!
