Kentarou Miura’s manga series Berserk has been on hiatus for awhile as it’s been about ten months since the last installment arrived in Young Animal. Now the magazine is revealing that the creator is on track to get the series going with monthly installments again that will begin with the next issue on July 24th, 2015. No reasons were given for the previous hiatus, though the one he took in early 2014 was to create the short run Gigantomakhia series.
The series began back in 1989 and has thirty seven volumes to its name now with it all caught up in North America as well through Dark Horse Comics.
Plot concept: Guts, known as the Black Swordsman, seeks sanctuary from the demonic forces that pursue him and his woman, and also vengeance against the man who branded him as an unholy sacrifice. Aided only by his titanic strength, skill, and sword, Guts must struggle against his bleak destiny, all the while fighting with a rage that might strip him of his humanity. Berserk is a dark and brooding story of outrageous swordplay and ominous fate, in the theme of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
