One of many welcome announcements at Anime Expo this weekend was Nozomi Entertainment picking up Big Windup! Season Two. With the first season released by FUNimation but declining to go after more, the curse of sports anime, Nozomi’s set to bring it out next year on DVD. They’ve now added the teaser they showed at the convention for everyone else to check out. The series is directed by Tsutomu Mizushima (Big Windup!, Girls und Panzer, Another), and features animation from A-1 Pictures (Big Windup!, ALDNOAH.ZERO, Black Butler). It aired in Japan in the spring of 2010. The thirteen episode season will be released in 2016 with Japanese audio, English subtitles, and English on-screen translations.
Plot concept: Picking up where the original series left off, Ren Mihashi, the ace pitcher of the newly-formed Nishiura High School baseball team, and his teammates face the Sakitama High School team in the next round of the High School Baseball Invitational Tournament as they aim to play in the finals at legendary Hanshin Koushien Stadium.
