FUNimation announced their theatrical plans for the newest feature in the franchise, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, just about a month ago. The film is getting limited screening between August 4th and 12th in theaters across the U.S. and Canada. They’ve now released the more traditional length theatrical trailer for it, marking it as the first of such, that could be showing up in select theaters in the coming weeks to promote it.
“We are thrilled to bring fans – both new and old – this latest film from series creator Akira Toriyama,” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of FUNimation, said previously. “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ is a visually stunning movie and offers even more action and comedy than Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.”
“Fans are in for another amazing ride with Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’,” said Mike DuBoise, EVP and COO of FUNimation, said previously. “We will be raising the bar for the anime theater-going experience.”
Based on the screenplay by original creator Akira Toriyama, the two hour film is directed by Tadayoshi Yamamuro with Toei Animation handling the production side of it.
Plot concept: An Earth where peace has arrived. However, remnants of Frieza’s army Sorbet and Tagoma (from the Japanese word for ‘egg’) arrive on the planet. Their goal is to revive Frieza with the dragon balls. Their dastardly wish is granted, the “F” that plans its revenge against the Saiyans is revived…!
