Working on multiple manga series at a time isn’t easy, and Hiromu Arakawa of Arslan Senki and Silver spoon is now getting ready to put one of them out to pasture. After taking a hiatus previously for it, Silver Spoon is nearing its end. The 13th volume of the series has hit this week and within it, there’as a tease that the book will be ending soon and that the 14th may be the final one for it. The wording is vague enough to be uncertain about events, but it does look like she’s slowly drawing down on the property.

With her starting Arslan Senki back in the fall of 2013, a lot of focus has gone there, particularly with the anime adaptation that’s currently running. Arakawa is no stranger to successful works, with Fullmetal Alchemist being one of her most well known works internationally so far. Silver Spoon received a two cour anime adaptation previously as part of the noitaminA block and was released on DVD in North America by Aniplex USA. The manga itself, running in Weekly Shōnen Sunday, has not been released in North America.

Plot concept: Yugo Hachiken dreams of life separated from his family, so he takes the initiative by enrolling in an agriculture school. He thinks, with his talent in studying, no problems will arise no matter what kind of school he attends. He is proven wrong very quickly. Raised as a city boy, he is forced to uncover the inconvenient truth about agricultural life. Enjoy the story of Hachiken, as he tries to keep up with his new friends, farmers’ heirs, who are already accustomed to the harsh world of farming. With no clear goals or understanding of farming life, how will Hachiken survive this new, cruel reality? The story of a sweat, tear, and mud-stained youth begins!
