Media Factory announced their plans for the winter 2015 anime series Absolute Duo on home video earlier this year and while we’ve got about a few weeks until the fourth volume, they’ve updated their release plans for it. The latest is a look at the finalized artwork and packaging design that will be used for the fourth volume, and which will is continuing from the previous installment, establish the overall feel for it across all volumes. Check those images out a bit further down. They’ve also got the fully fleshed out list of first press items by retail location that you can get, which puts into perspective things here as we get companies maybe doing one or two exclusives with some retailers. The series is slotted for twelve episodes with a six volume Blu-ray and DVD release that began on April 8th, 2015 and comes out monthly from there. The Blu-ray releases are priced at 7,000 yen each while the DVDs are priced at 6,000 yen each. First press releases look to oniclude a character audio drama CD with each volume. Each release will also feature a commentary track by the cast and various live action pieces with them to be included as well. Each release will also include a booklet and end card postcards.
The show is based on the light novels of the same name written by Takumi Hiiragi-boshi with artwork by Yuu Asaba. It’s set to be produced by studio 8Bit for the animation. The series has seen a manga adaptation already and the fifth volume of the light novel series came this spring and there’s a second manga spinoff as well. The series is being directed by Atsushi Nakayama based on scripts by Takamitsu Kouno and character designs by Keiichi Sano. Norie Takana is serving as the animation director for the series.
The cast for the series has been previously announced with Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Tōru Kokonoe, Nozomi Yamamoto as Yurie Sigtuna, Ayaka Suwa as Tomoe Tachibana, Ayaka Imamura as Miyabi Hotaka, Haruka Yamazaki as Lilith Bristol, Haruka Tomatsu as Imari Nagakura, Yukari Tamura as Rito Tsukimi, Yui Horie as Sakuya Tsukumo, Natsuki Hanae as Tora and Yoshihisa Kawahara as Tatsu.
Plot concept: After losing a loved one, Tooru Kokonoe enrolls at Kouryou Academy so as to gain a <>, a weapon that is his soul manifestation, for the sake of revenge. He was expecting a weapon… What he got was a shield… How is he to seek revenge with something that isn’t even a weapon?!
