The battle between Laxus and Tempesta ends with all the members of the Raijinshuu lying near death. Natsu and all the other Fairy Tail members want to avenge them, but Tartaros’s whereabouts are unknown. Meanwhile, the demonic members of Tartaros begin to get intrigued with Fairy Tail…

So the battle begins in full with Laxus and Tempesta fighting…sort of. Laxus kind of rolls over Tempesta like a hot knife through butter, but Tempesta has other tricks up his sleeve. He can turn into what is essentially a poison for magic users and takes down not only the Raijinshu, but Yajima and Laxus too—all in one blow.
This is really the impetus to everything for Fairy Tail. They’re spurred to action to fight for their friends who have fallen at the hands of Tartaros. And when Fairy Tail fights, they fight hard. Everyone was just working toward fighting against a dark guild, which is maybe a fight they would lose. But now there’s something worth it; they have to avenge Laxus, the Raijinshu, and Yajima. There’s no council to tell them to do this or not do this and there’s no guild more dominant than Fairy Tail, as shown by their victory at the Grand Magic Games.
Is it cruelty or compassion that brought Makarov to tell Fried that Laxus saved the town? In a cutaway, there are people in masks still working to save it with hundreds already dead. But Friend needs to focus on getting better and Laxus’ noble sacrifice suddenly seems less noble when he essentially did nothing but run with his tail between his legs along with everyone else. There are only good intentions in Makarov’s words, but they may hurt more than they help in the long run.
In Summary:
The fight begins in full now with Fairy Tail on the bodyguard job of all former council members. Tartaros is looking to kill them all, just like they did the current ones, for something called Face. The council member Natsu, Lucy, and Wendy are tasked with seems frightened at the very idea that Tartaros is going after Face, so it can’t be good.
