Content (please note that portions of a review may contain spoilers):
The great powers converge: Atlantis versus the realm of Man. It has all come to this as our tale reaches a climax with Issoro & Liz determined to reclaim what they have lost; and it all begins by rescuing their daughter. But which army will survive and which will be dragged into the abyss? Or will the Sea Witch emerge victorious as she bides her time to see who will emerge from the depths?
These two mighty armies will clash: the troops of Atlantis upon the land and one borne from the fiendish experiments of the Doctor upon our helpless princess. The foul abominations are for the Dark One and we know that it will not be used for peaceful means.
(begin Mission Impossible theme)
However, the assault has not two but three fronts as Erica also begins her daring escape. The Dark One’s plans have come to fruition and the sadistic scientist wants to celebrate with his experiment, but she has her other ideas.
As Issoro begins his siege upon the facility with the sounding of a conch, will he become what he detests the most? It was these men who took his beloved daughter and tormented her. Will his vengeance bring down his wrath and result in this becoming another Jericho? Or will he be spare this pitiful souls and show mercy?
The Sea Witch’s words echo as the battle begins:
“… now let’s make them pay for what they’ve done to us.”
In Summary:The fluidity of Mendonca’s artwork shines as he brings Finch’s narrative alive in this issue. However, with the moralities of these two worlds merging, so too does the wall separating them become murky.
Where does the line between a saving a daughter become clouded into revenge? When is justice overshadowed and it becomes murder? Who will be the final victor in this confrontation? And who will be right in the end?
Vengeance always corrupts those who seek it. It knows no boundaries and it know seeks no limits.
As the old Chinese proverb states:
“He who seeks revenge should remember to dig two graves.”
Who will succeed and who fail or will there be a surprise? Can’t wait for next month for the final issue!
