Hulu Acquires ‘Myst’ TV Series From Legendary

2 min read

MystThe Legendary TV side of the Legendary brand is continuing to build up its potential slate of solid titles to bring out in the next few years as they’ve now set things for Myst through Hulu. With series such as Lost in Space as a reboot in the works and a few other series in various stages of being pitched, such as LazarusColony and LoveMyst is the one that’s the most curious to see how it gets adapted. Based on the game of the same name from the 90’s, the rights were picked up last year by the group and it had set Evan Daugherty of Divergent to write the script with Matt Tolmach producing.

The project garnered a fair bit of interest and it was Hulu that grabbed the initial interest rights to it and had a script put into the works where if it was approved, it would get a straight to series order. Though the two parties aren’t talking, Deadline has it as a confirmed project now that’s moving forward for the streaming service that’s looking to provide more original destination material similar to what Netflix and others are doing.

Plot concept: Myst blends elements of science fiction and fantasy. It will explore the origins of the island of Myst from the game where a man wakes up on a mystery island with absolutely no idea who he is, where is, or how he got there.
