Second ‘Sailor Moon Crystal’ Anime Series Coming This Summer

2 min read

Sailor Moon CrystalThings are looking up again for fans of Sailor Moon Crystal as the Toei Animation Europe site has revealed while promoting the show for French release that a second season is currently under production in Japan with plans to broadcast this summer. No further details were offered, though it’s expected that the production team that’s doing all the updates and fixes to the home video release will continue to be involved in the new season.

The first season is directed by Munehisa Sakai at Toei Animation with Yuji Kobayashi doing the scripts. Yuki Sako joined the team as the character designer. Yasuharu Takanashi is serving as the composer while art direction is being done by Takashi Kurahashi and Yumi Hosaka.

Plot concept: Usagi Tsukino is a second-year middle school girl who is a little clumsy and a crybaby, but she is full of energy. One day, she meets Luna, a black cat with a crescent moon on her forehead, and she transforms into Sailor Moon, a sailor-uniformed pretty guardian of love and justice! As a chosen guardian of justice, Usagi seems to have a mission to find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other guardians and to protect the princess.

Meanwhile, the queen of the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl, also sends minions to the town where Usagi lives to obtain the Illusionary Silver Crystal, which has immense power. This causes strange events to unfold….

Can Sailor Moon really find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other Sailor guardians, and protect the princess…!?

  1. Maybe I’m a bit slow, but do they mean the Witches 5 & the Death Busters?
It doesn’t say really. To me second series would be the Black Moon arc
    currently showing on Crunchyroll.

  2. Dark Kingdom & Black Moon are series one.
“Act 01-23” Dark Kingdom/Black Moon, or Sailor Moon & Sailor Moon R.
“Act 24-33: Infinity” (which marks the Death Busters, or Sailor Moon S saga).
“Act 34-42: Dream” (which marks the Dead Moon, or Sailor Moon Super S saga).
“Act 43-52: Stars” (which marks the Sailor Wars, or Stars saga).
