Crunchyroll Adds ‘Donyatsu’ Anime Short Series

Donyatsu HeaderWith the way short form series get ignored in terms of being licensed, streaming is the only way to really get them, especially with legal subtitles. Crunchyroll has gone back to a 2013 series that ran for twelve episodes with Donyatsu, which is based on the manga of the same name by Yuusuke Kozaki. The anime adaptation was produced by Gathering with Mankyuu serving as the director.

The full twelve episode series is available now to Crunchyroll users worldwide excluding Japan.

Plot concept: The “loosely science-fiction adventure” is set in the summer sometime in the 21st century. Tokyo’s Shinjuku ward has become a wasteland, void of all humans due to an unexplained catastrophe. What remains are these strange creatures such as “Donyatsu,” the half-cat, half-doughnut hybrid, and “Begaru,” a feline bagel composite.
