The snooty sailor moon villains are chatting amongst themselves in the cafeteria looking down on the world until the protagonists walk by them and they hatch their latest scheme. After the opening credits, the gang is informed that they must raise their grades or the defense club will be forced to disband. This is important for some reason. They always meet at the hot springs anyway so I’m not sure what the big deal is. Green mushroom cut guy then strikes a deal with the dominatrix villains.
It’s a truly dark plot: if green mushroom cut guy joins their club they will pay him. The episode’s stock villain, who I forgot to mention until now, mutters to himself, cursing the world (etcetera, etcetera). Porcupine dominatrix boss appears and says they will make him theirs’ in a non-sexual way. Green mushroom cut guy informs his friends that he is abandoning them for money. McMuttererton turns into a screw and wreaks havoc on the student body. Why haven’t the police appeared in all this time?
The protagonists then engage in an epic tickling battle with screw mutterer who proceeds to rattle off thinly veiled innuendos. Green mushroom cut guy, realizing the error of his ways, transforms and rescues pink pom-pom hair playboy thus proving their undying friendship-love thing. The dominatrix villains then tell the protagonists they exist and leave. The ending credits roll and we are informed that next week will be a beach episode. That is sure to be good, clean fun as usual.
In Summary:
This episode was a nice change of pace from usual. We actually see some character development and plot progression which hopefully continues to shake up the formula in the future. As far as cheesy wish-fulfillment goes this is probably among the better shows. The animation was a bit of a step down from last week though. At this point I suppose I don’t need to say to watch this if you are a fan of the series but I suppose I inadvertently did anyway.
