After getting a look at the artwork for the first volume earlier this week, Kadokawa has now brought out a new promotional spot for the home video release of the first volume of Kantai Collection. The series is getting a fairly standard six volume release where the Blu-ray limited editions are priced at 7,600 yen while the DVD limited editions are at 6,600 yen. The regular edition DVDs are at 5,600 yen. The series is beginning its release on March 27th, 2015 with new volumes following monthly. The only on-disc extra listed so far is the clean opening sequence.
The stars Sumire Uesaka as Fubuki, Saki Fujita as Akagi, and Yuka Iguchi as Kaga. The series was animated at studio Diomedea with Keizo Kusakawa directing based on scripts by Jukki Hanada. Character designs are done by Naomi Ide and Mayuko Matsumoto, who also served as the chief animation directors.
Plot concept: Set in a world where humanity has lost control of the oceans to the “deep sea fleet,” the only hope to counter this threat are the Kanmusu, a group of girls who possess the spirit of Japanese warships. The story revolves around Fubuki, a destroyer who comes to the Chinjufu base to train with other Kanmusu. Watch as their stories unfold!
