New ‘Fushigi Yugi’ Manga Series Coming

Fushigi YugiYuu Watase has returned to her very popular series Fushigi Yugi a few times over the years and now it looks like she’s going to do that once more. Set to debut in the February 28th issue of Monthly Flowers magazine, Watase will introduce Fushigi Yugi: Byakko Ibun. The new series is set to revolve the priestess of Byakko from the overall property premise and delve into her story at long last.

The new comes as stage plays are coming for the two main pieces of the original work with Seiyu and Suzaku, making it a prime opportunity to dip back into this world again.

Original series premise: While visiting the National Library, junior-high students Miaka Yuuki and Yui Hongo are transported into the world of a mysterious book set in ancient China, “The Universe of The Four Gods.” Miaka suddenly finds herself with the responsibility of being the priestess of Suzaku, and must find all of her celestial warriors for the purpose of summoning Suzaku for three wishes. However, the enemy nation of the god Seiryuu has manipulated Yui into becoming the priestess of Seiryuu. As enemies, the former best friends begin their long struggle to summon their respective gods and obtain their wishes…
