Samurai Troopers TV HeaderAfter revealing the cover artwork for the OVA release earlier today, Discotek Media has revealed the cover artwork and release plans for the Samurai Troopers TV series release. The thirty-nine episode series from 1988 and 1989 will be getting a five disc release in April 2015. No pricing or exact street date have been announced yet. Discotek Media also noted in their showing off of the cover artwork that, “we are still working on clearing the Ronin Warriors TV that will be a separate release if cleared”.

Plot concept: Thousands of years ago, the evil emperor Talpa attempted to conquer the Earth. Defeated, he was banished to the Nether Realm and his armor was divided into 9 separate suits. Now, he has returned to conquer Earth, having reclaimed 4 of the suits. The other 5 are in the possesion of those who are the only hope of stopping him: The Ronin Warriors.

  1. I’m a little confused. Samurai Troopers and Ronin Warriors are the same series. Are they releasing Samurai Troopers as the sub only version and then Ronin Warriors later with the dub if they can get the dub’s distribution rights?

  2. They’re the same show, but Ronin Warriors had edits to it so it can be a normal bilingual release as the audio wouldn’t match up (Ronin Warriors is a bit shorter since it was edited for TV when it was originally dubbed).
