2 min read

Fafner Exodus Crunchyroll HeaderJust ahead of the debut of the second episode of the new series Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor – Exodus, King Records has brought out the first TV spot for the home video release of the series in order to get more preorders in for it. The distributor is one that actually announced home video plans long before the release, back in the middle of November, which is certainly unusual in general as many don’t get announced until right around the premiere of the series to capitalize on the excitement from fans.

Planned for 26 episodes, we’ve got the first 13 episodes solicited so far with the first volume landing on February 4th, 2015 – just a few weeks after broadcast which is pretty rare. The show is set for six volumes for this half of the season and it’s getting a varied pricing release, one where there are boxes associated with the first volume for each format. So far, the only main extras listed with the release are the clean opening and closing sequences.

  • v1 BD: 8800 yen
  • v2 to v5 BDs: 7800 yen
  • v6 BD: 8800 yen
  • v1 DVD: 7800 yen
  • v2 to v5 DVDs: 6800 yen
  • v6 DVD: 7800 yen

The series stars Makoto Ishii as Kazuki Makabe, Kohei Kiyasu as Soshi Minashiro, Marika Matsumoto as Maya Tomi, Ryotaro Okiayu as Walter Bargest, Yuichi Nakamura as Dustin Morgan, Aki Unone as Keith Walter, Megumi Han as Aishuwaria Fein, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Mitsugu Jinnai, Azumi Asakura as Saki Masaoka, Saori Seto as Mai Douma and Masakazu Morita as Billy Morgan.

With animation by XEBEC Zwei, the series is directed by Takashi Noto based on the screenplay by Tow Ubukata and character designs by Hisashi Hirai.

Original concept: Tatsumiyajima is the central island in the middle of a small cluster of islands, in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island’s young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed. Or so they have been taught… but the truth is different. The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy. At the center of it all, fighting for Humanity’s continued existence, is the giant robot Fafner, the dragon that guards this final treasure of mankind.
