FUNimation is closing out the year in a pretty big way for a lot of fans by announcing that they’ve picked up home video rights for eight anime series that they’ve previously simulcast. This brings us a good range of titles, some expected like Terror in Resonance, but some unexpected like Buddy Complex and Daimidaler. Check out the full list below with tentative plans of what to expect and when we might see them.
Noragami
The series will be releasing on Blu-ray and DVD in Summer 2015.
Plot concept: Yato may just be a minor god now, but he’s determined to make it big and he’s got a plan. Unfortunately, things just don’t seem to be going his way. He doesn’t have a single shrine dedicated to him, his partner has just quit, and now he’s got to find a new divine weapon. Just when things look bleak, he meets a girl named Hiyori and changes her life forever.
Danganronpa
The series will be available on Blu-ray and DVD in 2015.
Plot concept: Hope’s Peak Academy is an exclusive private school that only accepts the best of the best. Graduates of this elite – yet enigmatic – institution have the world at their fingertips, but getting a cap and gown is easier said than done. The hallowed halls are ruled by the sadistic administrator Monobear, who declares that the only way to pass the class is by sending a fellow student home in a body bag.
If you can get away with murder, you’ll get your diploma. But if you’re caught red handed, you’ll find yourself on the receiving end of a deadly detention slip!
When your principal is psychotic and your finals are fatal, high school goes from being the best years of your life – to your last.
Buddy Complex
The series will be releasing on Blu-ray and DVD. Release date is to be determined.
Plot concept:
When a giant robot suddenly attacks the city, a high-school student named Aoba is saved by a classmate who’s piloting her own mecha. After accepting an offer to join the alliance she’s is a part of, Aoba is thrust into the middle of high-flying robot warfare in this new series from the studio that brought you Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Escaflowne!
Nobunagun
The series will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 31, 2015.
Plot concept: History and fantasy collide in this thrilling new series from the director of Sgt. Frog and the studio that brought you Fairy Tail! Ogura Sio’s world changes forever when her school trip to Taiwan is interrupted by a surprise monster attack! Her life is miraculously spared by the arrival of a clandestine government agency that battles the army of monsters with weapons possessed by the spirits of historical figures. Daimidaler: Prince VS. Penguin Empire
The series will be available on Blu-ray and DVD in 2015
Plot concept: From the crew that brought you High School DxD comes the timeless story of strange alien invaders known as the Penguin Empire, giant robots, henchmen running around in skintight animal costumes, and Earth’s only hope at survival: an easily excited teenage boy with a mysterious power fueled by oversized boobs.
Terror in Resonance
The series will be available on Blu-ray and DVD in Fall 2015
Plot concept: In an alternate version of the present, Tokyo has been decimated by a shocking terrorist attack, and the only hint to the identity of the culprit is a bizarre video uploaded to the internet. The police, baffled by this cryptic clue, are powerless to stop the paranoia spreading across the population. While the world searches for a criminal mastermind to blame for this tragedy, two mysterious children – children who shouldn’t even exist – masterfully carry out their heinous plan. Cursed to walk through this world with the names Nine and Twelve, the two combine to form “Sphinx,” a clandestine entity determine to wake the people from their slumber – and pull the trigger on this world.
Maken-Ki! Two
The series will be available on Blu-ray and DVD in Spring 2015.
Plot concept: The busty babes of Maken-ki! are back in a follow-up to the hit first season! When Takeru enrolls in Tenbi Academy, he discovers that he has a magical power called “Maken.” The hornball might end up a great fighter—if he can keep from being distracted by all the gorgeous girls running around his new school.
