Fans who delight to the series Garo: The Animation will definitely be excited by this information. With the property stemming from a live action series already, the news has landed that the franchise is going to expand in a huge way in the future across the board. The project is getting a new live action series to follow up the 2013 series and there will be two spinoff films from it as well. A second season of the live action series Garo: Honoo no Kokuin is going forward and a theatrical adaptation as well. Add in a stage musical production as well and you’ve got a solid slate just in that alone. Check out the trailers for the newly announced live action projects below.
It was also announced that a new TV series has been given approval for the anime side and that an anime theatrical feature has also gotten approval, though no details about either are available yet.
The current show is being animated by Studio Mappa with Yuichiro Hayashi directing based on scripts by Yasuko Kobayashi and character designs by Toshiyuki Kanno.
The series stars Daisuke Namikawa as Leon Lewis, Kenyuu Horiuchi as Herman Lewis, Katushito Nomura as Alfonso San Valiante, Romi Park as Emma Gusman, Hironobu Kageyama as Zaruba, Takaya Hashi as Mendosa, Mari Tsuchii as Octavia, Mayu Udono as Garum and Natsumi Tada as Esmerelda.
Plot concept: The King’s close advisor implemented a large-scale witch-hunt. The tragic victims of this hunt were not witches, however, but Makai Knights and Makai Priests. One Makai Priestess gave birth to a child while being burned at the stake. That child carried the bloodlines of the Golden Knight. Although he was saved by his father, a Makai Knight himself, the newborn, León Luís, suffered greatly from the unjust death of his mother. And so he vowed to learn the ways of a Makai Knight from his father, Germán Luís, and use his training to seek revenge. During his battles against the demons known as “Horrors,” León must gradually approach reality and accept the truth.
Meanwhile, the powerful former adviser to the King, Mendoza, banished Prince Alfonso and his mother while the king was bedridden. Eager to reclaim his kingdom and save his people, Alfonso embarks on a quest to find the legendary Knight – but destiny holds a twist of fate in store for him.
Together, León and Alfonso begin long and difficult journey filled with many hardships.
