Aquarius just wants to have fun.

What They Say:
“Wendy vs. Aquarius! Let’s Have Fun at the Amusement Park!”

The new version of Aquarius is a light-hearted girl who just wants to have fun, but that consists of wanton destruction with her water power. Wendy and Carla try to gently subdue her at some kind of pocket universe amusement park, a dubious prospect at best.

As if to remind us that other things are going on, there are three short scenes with Natsu and Loke, Cana and Scorpio, and Mira and Pisces. The Natsu one was sort of necessary because he ends up showing up at the end, but I’m left with only questions with Cana’s. What’s the point of it if there’s no consequence in the rest of the episode? And in Natsu’s, at least show the punch that sent him into Wendy and Aquarius’s amusement part.

The bulk of the episode is spent “playing” with Wendy and Aquarius. When I say playing, I kind of do mean playing. They play tag and hide and seek because Aquarius is just a mischievous little girl underneath her tough exterior (this is the Aquarius Scorpio sees all the time). It’s dangerous though because she breaks near everything in the amusement park except the ice cream stand. The ice cream stand? There is literally a sequence where they just eat ice cream. I don’t understand filler sometimes, but hey Goku and Piccolo got their driver’s licenses in a filler episode so weirder things have happened. Not to mention Fairy Tail’s own Jiggle Butt Gang.

The action ramps up when Natsu falls from the sky and fights off Aquarius’s stronger attacks. I don’t really see the point of this, as the show has shown that Wendy is a more than capable fighter by herself and, while Aquarius is one of Lucy’s strongest spirits, it seems that Wendy could have taken her on her own, especially with the resolution as it was.

In Summary:
It doesn’t seem like all the fights are going to end relatively amicably, but it would show the caring nature that Fairy Tail and Yukino have toward the Celestial Spirits. It is disappointing though that so far the spirits have been defeated by sweat and friendship. These are strong beings of magic and all I want is a knock down, beat up of all of em. Is that so much to ask?
