Picked up for simulpub distribution by Crunchyroll earlier this year, the final chapter for Yoshitoki Oimaa’s manga series Koe no Katachi is due out this week and it comes with a special announcement. According to the final chapter, an anime adaptation of some form is in the planning stages. Translated as A Silent Voice, the manga series began back in the summer of 2013 and ran for seven volumes with sixty-four chapters overall. The seventh volume is set for release next month to bring the property to a close .No details are available as to what kind of anime adaptation it would take, either as an OVA, short film, feature film or a single season anime series.
Plot concept: I wish we had never met. I wish we could meet once again. A boy who can hear, Shoya Ishida, and a transfer student who can’t, Shoko Nishimiya. One fateful day, the two meet, and Shoya leads the class in bullying Shoko. But before long, the class shifts its target from Shoko to Shoya. Years later, Shoya feels strongly that he must see Shoko once again.
