The Review:
Content (warning as portions of this review may contain spoilers):
Last week’s episode of Bahamut was filled to the brim with content and it brought out some pretty interesting developments without stumbling too much. Things have slowed down a bit this time around, which is probably for the best given that the show only has another 6 episodes left to resolve any new twists it throws in and there’s enough on it’s plate already. Of course while there new developments here and there, the show is steadily piecing it all together.
Storywise most of the new points occur after Favarro and the others are captured by the Orleans’ Knights shortly after escaping Azaeal and are brought before the king. The knights are initially baffled by the fact that they can’t detect whether or not Amara is a demon since that seems pretty apparent but some of the gods come down and reveal that she’s actually half god, half-demon, which is how she managed to make off with the God Key in the first place. The knights try to have the whole gang executed but the gods need Amara in order to stop Bahamut so they need her alive, and the others as well since there’s no telling what she’d do if they died.
What’s more interesting here though, is getting a bit more of a look into Favarro’s character. There’s another full on display of how much of a jerk he can be when he betrays Amara’s trust after finally revealing to her that he’s just been following her around because she cursed him (and him otherwise being a normal human is a truth that pretty amusingly shocks Kaisar) and she’s pretty visibly hurt over it considering how close they’d become. On the other hand though, Favarro’s display of altruism in the previous episode doesn’t go unnoticed by Kaisar and he’s curious as to why Favarro would do such a thing and all and what exactly his true nature is. Favarro seems pretty content having everyone think he’s just a supervillain, but it’s apparent he’s not as ruthless as he pretends to be.
In the meantime after feeling betrayed by Favarro, Amara gets a message from a mysterious voice and decides to follow it while the others go to search for her. This leads into a bit more background concerning the actual namesake, Bahamut when Favarro ends up stumbling upon a statue of it and gets some info on the legend concerning it from Jeanne. Favarro is pretty convinced none of this stuff really has anything to with him, although Jeanne tells him that he met Amara for a reason and that even someone like him might have a larger role to play. Back with Amara, she comes face to face with the person behind the mysterious voice and it appears to be her father, though that particular revelation is cut short when Azaeal and his demons show up to make another run at the God Key.
In Summary:
The show slows down a little after last week’s super fast paced episode, but it doesn’t kill the momentum any as it continues to deliver on some really great material. Things are moving forward pretty nicely with the story with some of the new revelations thrown in, and Favarro’s character may get a more in-depth look than expected since it’s still hard to get a read on exactly how good or evil he truly is. Sadly it seems like the next episode will be a recap but hopefully it won’t kill things too much for the series because it’s still on a pretty steady roll.
