With the recent confirmation of the anime adaptation of Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki’s manga Food Wars!, we can finally move on to the rest of the reveals. That happened this weekend as the official Twitter account for the property has revealed the lead voice actor and the production staff for it. Directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani, the series is being animated at JC Staff with Shogko Yasukawa handling the scripts and Tomoyuki Shitaya working on the character design adaptations. The cast so far includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as the lead, Soma Yukihira. Matsuoka has an extensive credit list to his name with quite a few leads as well as a lot of background characters as he worked his way up the ladder. He can currently be seen as Hajime Aoyagi in Yowamushi Pedal and as Nozomi Kamiya in Wolf Girl & Black Prince.
The series is currently running in Weekly Shonen Jump by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki with ten volumes to its name as of next weeks newest release. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America digitally and in print form.
Plot concept: Soma Yukihira’s old man runs a small family restaurant in the less savory end of town. Aiming to one day surpass his father’s culinary prowess, Soma hones his skills day in and day out until one day, out of the blue, his father decides to enroll Soma in a classy culinary school!
Can Soma really cut it in a place that prides itself on a 10 percent graduation rate? And can he convince the beautiful, domineering heiress to the school that he belongs there at all?!
