‘Youkai Watch’ Gets Second Anime Feature Approved

2 min read

Youkai WatchWhile TOHO prepares for the December 20th, 2014 premiere of Youaki Watch: It’s the Secret of Birth, Meow!, things are obviously tracking well for it as a second film has been approved. The revelation that over 720,000 tickets have been sold in advance of the film shows some serious interest in the property, and for TOHO, it’s the highest number of advance tickets sold in the company’s entire history. That will reinforce their desire to keep this running as it can be viewed as potentially as sustainable as series like PokemonConan and even Doraemon on some level.  The property in general has picked up a lot of steam since the first TV series came out earlier this year and with a manga and the original 3DS games that are out there in the last couple of years, it’s moving right a long at capturing the kids market and building a lot of fans. Dentsu USA is attempting to get the anime out in North America by offering it to various clientele, but there haven’t been any formally announced bites yet.

Plot Concept: The story line of the game goes about the main protagonist named Keita who discovers at one hot summer day an old capsule toy vending machine in the forest. Keita receives a mysterious watch which he meets a ghost butler with the name Whisper. Whisper tells Keita that the watch allows him to see supernatural creatures that he could never see before in a everyday life. Keita alongside with Whisper and his companion Kabanya explorers his town to search for other ghosts to battle.
