With a lot of chatter going on in the last couple of days regarding Warner Bros. doing a lot of casting potential for their upcoming slate of superhero films, there was talk of Margot Robbie of of The Wolf of Wall Street being involved in the Suicide Squad film. She’s gained a lot of attention since that film came out and has been fielding a lot of offers. She was recently talked about as being offered the lead role in Ghost in the Shell, a live action adaptation of the popular anime/manga property for DreamWorks. Those talks have apparently fizzled and now it seems that DreamWorks has made a $10 million offer to Scarlett Johansson for the role. It’s a tidy sum to be sure, but after making Lucy a summer success across the board by making $412 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, that’s no surprise. Add in her time in the next few years doing various Black Widow roles for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and general name recognition and it can drive a lot of attention towards Ghost in the Shell. Especially since enough elements in Lucy would work similar angles.
Johansson has nothing scheduled publicly at the moment, having just given birth to her first daughter this past September. Other than her already shot appearances in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron, she has no films slated and can leap into anything.
