The recent push in Japan to focus more on combating anime and manga piracy, largely in Asia, has lead to an interesting project that has come up. The Manga Anime Guards project, which is part of the Content Overseas Distribution Associate partnership with Tokyo Otaku Mode, has launched a new “Join Us, Friends” campaign this week. The campaign is designed to obviously increase membership and awareness with the hopes of getting a million new members.
What they’re doing to entice fans to participate and become members, which helps to get them on the right side of things, is that they’ve kicked off with a really great looking image from Takashi Yoshiike that features some of the biggest character names at the moment. What they intend to do is that as if they get a a million new members, they’ll add some twenty characters will be added, making it one of the more interesting cross-character projects out there, something you don’t’ see in the anime and manga world officially all that often.
