The return of Durarara!! in January 2015 certainly has a lot of fans excited, but things got even ebtter with some information that came out of the fall event in Japan this weekend by Dengeki Bunko. The series is planned for three seasons with the first part in January 2015, the second in summer 2015 and the third part in Winter 2016. The first promotional video also landed over the weekend, which you can see below.
The festival also announced several new characters/actors for the project that will be in the first season of it with M.A.O as Vorona, Kappei Yamaguchi as Mizuki Akabayashi, Hiro Shimono as Aoba Kuronuma and Yuuki Ono as Chikage Rokujo.
Returning cast members include Miyuki Sawashiro as Celty,Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Mikado. Mamoru, Miyano as Masaomi Kida, Kana Hanazawa as Anri Sonohara, Daisuke Ono as Shizuo Heiwajima, Hiroshi Kamiya as Izaya Orihara, Sanae Kobayashi as Namie Yagiri, Jun Fukuyama as Shinra Kishitani, Eri Kitamura as Mairu Orihara, Hisako Kanemoto as Kururi Orihara, Houchu Ohtsuka as Haruya Shiki, Ayahi Takagaki as Erika Karisawa, Kazuma Horie as Seiji Yagiri, Mariya Ise as Mika Harima, Takaya Kuroda as Simon Brezhnev, Takuma Terashima as Saburou Togusa, Yūichi Nakamura as Kyōhei Kadota, Yuuki Kaji as Walker Yumasaki, Saki Fujita as Ruri Hijiribe, Daisuke Kishio as Kasuka Heiwajima, Misato Fukuen as Saki Mikajima, Akio Ohtsuka as Shingen Kishitani, Katsuyuki Konishi as Tom Tanaka, Keiji Fujiwara as Kinnosuke Kuzuhara and Masaya Onosaka as Max Sandshelt.
The main staff is returning to the production with Takahiro Omori directiong based on scripts by Noboru Takagi and character designs by Takahiro Kishida. Animation production is being done by studio Shuka, their first production, instead of Brains Base which handled the first series.
Original series concept: Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Mikado Ryugamine is a young man who yearns for the city like no other. At the invitation of his childhood friend, Masaomi Kida, he leaves his hometown and enters Raira Academy in Ikebukuro. Masaomi warns Mikado about the mysterious organization of unknown origin known as the “Dollars” and some dangerous people in Ikebukuro to watch out for. In particular: the brawling champion Shizuo Heiwajima and hobbyist information broker Izaya Orihara.
On his first day out in the city, Mikado, remembering another of Masaomi’s stories, sees a jet-black motorcycle being driven by the fabled “Headless Rider.” From then on, a series of random attacks and events begins to occur on the streets of Ikebukuro, and a group known as the Yellow Scarves arises as Ikebukuro begins to crumble!
