The timing couldn’t be better for Viz Media as they’ve just begun releasing the manga for Seraph of the End this summer as a new anime adaptation has been announced. The Twitter feed for Jump Square announced today that the series by Takaya Kagami and Yamato Yamamoto will be making the leap to anime form with more details to come in an upcoming issue of the magazine. Nothing was included in terms of who is producing, timelines or anything else.
The series began in 2012 with the first volume releasing in January 2013. The sixth installment is set to land on September 4th, 2014 in Japan. Viz Media began their releases this past June and has four volumes scheduled up through March 2015, with the second volume coming out next week.
Plot concept: After a catastrophic epidemic kills every adult on earth, vampires arise from the shadows to enslave the remaining human population. Yuichiro and his friends are kept as vampire fodder in a creepy institution masquerading as an orphanage. One day, Yuichiro’s dreams of fighting back are realized when the orphans stage a daring escape. But things go horribly wrong, and his dream is kept alive at a cruel price..
