Crunchyroll is at Otakon this year and their panel has revealed one new announcement for fans there and it’s definitely a good one. The streaming service will be presenting Cardcaptor Sakura on their site starting on Tuesday, August 12th at 9pm ET. Their distribution of the show will include all seventy episodes of the TV series, which was acquired by NIS America and released on DVD and Blu-ray, and they’ll be bringing out both the full subtitled run and the portion of the show that was dubbed.

Originally airing in 1998, the series is based on the twelve volume manga title by CLAMP which also spun into the entire Tsubasa series and crossed into many other CLAMP properties. The show was originally licensed by Geneon Entertainment, who released it all on DVD, and produced for broadcast an edited and uncut dub for Nelvana.

Plot concept: Ten-year-old Sakura lives a pretty normal life with her older brother Toya, and widowed father Fujitaka. Or she did… until the day she returned home from school to discover a glowing book in her father’s study. After opening the book and releasing the cards within, Sakura is tasked with collecting each of these magical cards, while trying to live the life of a normal fourth grader. In the monumental task of collecting all the cards, Sakura must rely on her friends and family, and decide what she finds most important in life.
