Aniplex Japan is setting into motion their plans for the Gintama TV series to give it another round of life by offering up four Blu-ray box sets for the series. With the first one set for December 17th and containing 49 episodes, it’ll be priced at 35,000 yen. Which is actually a pretty good price for both Japan and a box set with this many episodes. The releases will follow through the summer 2015, giving you a little breathing room to acquire them.

– Box 1 (eps 1 – 49) | December 17, 2014
– Box 2 (eps 50 – 99) | February 25, 2015
– Box 3 (eps 100 – 150) | Late April 2015
– Box 4 (eps 151 – 201) | Late June 2015

These are limited edition releases and so far all we know is that it will include a booklet but that other materials are planned and will be revealed later.

Sentai Filmworks released the first 49 episodes in four collections previously, but all of those collections are now out of print.

Plot concept: Life isn’t easy in feudal Japan… especially since the aliens landed and conquered everything! Oh sure, the new health care is great, but the public ban on the use of swords has left a lot of defeated samurai with a difficult career choice! This is especially true if they’re not particularly inclined towards holding a day job, which is why Gintoki Sakata’s opted for the freelance route, taking any job that’s offered to him as long as the money’s right.

Unfortunately, in a brave new world filled with stray bug-eyed montsters, upwardly mobile Yakuza, and overly ambitious E.T. entrepreneurs, those jobs usually don’t pay as well as they should for the pain, suffering, and indignities endured!
