Sometimes you can just sense a disaster in the air. When M3 – That Black Steel was announced, it ended up being revealed just a few weeks before it was set to air. And the show ended up with a limited overseas distribution, little fanfare and seemingly little buzz with what fans were watching it both in Japan and overseas. The series was getting a standard release on DVD and Blu-ray for its twenty-four episode run that would begin in August and run through March 2015. That ended up getting pulled recently and now new solicitation material has been revealed. Instead of a series of singles, we’re now getting two Blu-ray box sets. The first is set to land on November 5th, 2014 while the second come son February 3rd, 2015.  No pricing is available as of this writing.

The series is being produced by Satelight and it has a pretty interesting core trio that are designing the project. Junichi Sato is directing based on the scrpits by Mari Okada and mechanical designs by Shoji Kawamori. They’re working with Hideki Inoue who is adaptating the character designs from Onigusnso’s original designs while Takatoshi Hamano is doing sound direction. Hajime Sakita is doing the soundtrack while May’n will be doing the opening theme.

Plot concept: A distorted, endlessly black darkness. The location where the dark swallowed everything and took everything from us has become known as the Lightless Realm. Born there, as if they were mirror images of the despair and chaos humans felt, were aberrations. They were called Admonitions. An investigation of the Lightless Realm that eats away at the human psyche. Can a group of eight boys and girls gathered in an effort to combat the Admonitions see the light of the future beyond the Lightless Realm, while their past destinies and dangerous present intertwine in a complicated web?
