While we’ve had so many failed comic book TV series before, and ones that have done well but adapted poorly from the source material, Arrow is like a dream. Last week it was revealed that they were bringing on Devon Aoki as Katana and Peter Stormare as the new Count Vertigo. Now we’re learning that Brandon Routh, who played Superman in Superman Returns and had a fantastic role in Scott Pilgrim is joining the series as Ray Palmer. The actor is slotted for a role that has him recurring for approximately fourteen episodes in the series where he’ll be playing Ray Palmer, “an unparalleled scientist and inventor” that is in charge of the new Queen Consolidated. It also appears that he’ll be playing a romantic interest with Felicity as well.

The character of Ray Palmer is an interesting on, changed and reworked many times over the years, with his superhero persona of The Atom.

Arrow: After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, bent on righting the wrongs of his family and fighting injustice. To do this, he creates the persona of the Arrow and allies himself with former military man John Diggle, computer-science expert Felicity Smoak, street brawler Roy Harper and international assassin Sara Lance, while keeping his secret from those closest to him including his sister Thea, who has allied herself with his most deadly enemy. Rivalries and allegiances will shift as Oliver faces his most difficult challenge yet.[2]
