‘Ninja Slayer’ Anime Gets Director Announcement

Ninja Slayer AXThe slow but steady build of information for the anime adaptation of Ninja Slayer continues as a panel was held at Anime Expo this weekend to talk about the project. Set to debut in 2015, it will be called Ninja Slayer From Animation with the previously revealed Studio Trigger handling the animation for it. At the event on Thursday night, it was revealed that Akira Amemiya will be handling the direction for the series. Amemiya has a good line of credits to hits name over the years, having started as a key animator that has moved up to episode director status for a number of series, including some fun episodes of Kill la Kill while also serving as series director for Inferno Cop. A teaser trailer for the project will be revealed on July 6th and Studio Trigger revealed two posters for the project, which come from Takashi Okazaki of Afro Samurai fame.

Plot concept: Kenji Fujikido is a salaryman whose wife and child were killed in a ninja turf war. In a brush with his own death, Fujikido is possessed by an enigmatic ninja soul known as Naraku Ninja. Fujikido cheats death and becomes “Ninja Slayer” – a Grim Reaper destined to kill evil ninja, committed to a personal war of vengeance. Set in the dystopian underworld of Neo-Saitama, Ninja Slayer takes on SoukaiSyndicate ninja in mortal combat.
