While a TV series announcement wasn’t a surprise last week for manga series Assassination Classroom from Yusei Matsui, a live action adaptation certainly was. The anime side has a bit more news this week as the first key visual from it has surfaced, which definitely paints a picture that makes it distinctive and memorable without even seeing the show itself, and will certainly serve to draw in some people that may not pay much attention otherwise.

The manga, which is getting released in North America this December, is getting a TV series for a 2015 debut and there will be some differences with the OVA that was produced before. While that was handled by Brain’s Base, this series will be handled at studio Lerche with Seiji Kishi directing it with Makoto Uezeu handling the scripts while Kazuaki Morita will be tackling the character designs. It’s also being said that the cast for the show will not be the same as used for the previous release that was done back in 2013, but that the cast announcement will come later. Kishi is certainly a good choice for a project like this as he’s coming off of his work on some other high profile adaptations such as Persona 4 and Danganronpa while Uezu was involved in the latter as well as Apreggio of Blue Steel and School Days among others.

Plot concept: A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he’s the best teacher they’ve ever had!
