What They Say
ARMY OF THE UNDERWORLD

Priscillia, whose monstrous savagery was reawakened in the previous battle, is bent on absorbing the power of those who fell in her wake and destroying the rebel Claymores. Raki and several former top warriors band together with a defensive plan, but even their skills may be no match against Priscilla’s poisoned wrath. Meanwhile, the terrifying Yoma-based creature coalescing outside of the Holy City of Rabona may seek to defeat Priscilla…but it may also be seeking the defeat of the rebel warriors!

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
It is true that the rebel Claymores are amazing fighters compared to their old Claymore comrades, but Raki is no slouch for a human. In fact, Raki’s ability to fight Yoma is so intriguing that two of the male Awakened Beings come into town to confront him about it. They want to know how Raki learned to fight their kind; a skill normally possessed only by the Claymores. This proves to be a good refresher for the reader as Raki recounts his time with Isley. That revelation both surprises and impresses the two male Awakened Beings. But are those two really after? Are they going to side with the humans and Claymores to defeat Priscilla? Or will they wait until the Claymores numbers are weakened, and then take them out?

It’s awesome to finally have Clare back in this series, and over the years she has become pretty tough. She joins a few of the other rebels in an attempt to kill Cassandra, the last of the Abyssal Ones created in a last ditch effort by the Organization to defeat the rebels. Unfortunately, Cassandra is also the toughest and definitely too powerful for the rebels to defeat. But Miria seemed to have convinced the other Awakened Beings that joining forces to defeat Cassandra was in everyone’s best interest. I’m surprised to see these groups join forces. I really thought the Awakened Beings would sit all this out. It is a good thing I was wrong, because it isn’t every day you get to see an all-out war between an Abyssal One and five Awakened Beings!

While that battle is taking place, a new monster has snuck up on everyone. A bizarre reformed version of one of the three most powerful Awakened Beings ever has appeared and she’s throwing down with Priscilla. Not just fighting, but actually beating the tar out of Priscilla! How is it even possible that a creature stronger than Priscilla can even exist? Which of these two creatures from hell is going to survive their battle? Can the rebels, even with the help of the Awakened Beings, defeat Cassandra the Abyssal One?

In Summary
This volume has a lot of great stuff; from a flashback to Priscilla’s childhood, to more revelations about the Organization, to two huge simultaneous battles between the super-charged Yoma monsters and rebel Claymores. It is also awesome to not only have Clare back in the story and fighting alongside her fellow rebel Claymores, but to see how strong she has become. Clare is now easily one of the strongest Claymores alive. <Claymore #24 is another great volume in an action-packed and entertaining series.

  1. Could you please tell me how many volumes are left? This is one of my most favorite series but I’m starting to get the feeling I will be die and buried before this series is finish!

  2. It should be ending soon, possible 1 or 2 more volumes or at best, a extra big last volume. It does suck that a new chapter comes outs every month, then gotta wait for about 6 to make a volume, so ~6 months but on the plus side, IT”LL end before One Piece T_T, lol.
