Karen Gillan Wants ‘Spider-Girl’ Time

Karen Gillan has a lot of fans from her time on Doctor Who and she’s going to get a few more when she appears in Guardians of the Galaxy this summer. And because she’s in a big new movie coming up, there’s a lot of interviews and press junket things going on where you have to feel for the actors a bit as they get asked so many questions by so many people in a short amount of time that they often just kind of come up with stuff without really knowing (or remembering at the moment) the details of it. Such is likely the case as she was asked what she’d like to play if she had the opportunity and she went with Spider-Girl.

If you could play a superhero, which one would you choose?
Yeah, who is there…? I want to play a version of Spider-Man that’s a lady.

Spider-Woman?
Spider-Woman – does she exist?

There’s a Spider-Woman and a Spider-Girl.
I want to play Spider-Girl!

The character is more “recent”, having been created in 1998, but she’s been involved in a lot of different things. Admittedly, we’d rather see the Jessica Drew character make her way out there, but just getting Gillan in costume again will be a good thing.
