Discotek Media has made a home for a very popular old school fan series this week with the acquisition of Super Dimension Century Orguss. The show, which got a Japanese Blu-ray release last uyear, is slated for release through Discotek Media on DVD only. They’ll be bringing out the thirty-five episode run in Japanese with English subtitles while the first seventeen will have the never finished English language dub from a couple decades ago.

Known as Choujikuu Seiki Orguss in its Japanese release, the series ran for thirty-five episodes back in 1983 and was considered a spiritual successor to Macross in many ways due to the involvement of Noburo Ishiguro and character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto for Studio Nue. The series saw partial release in dub form from US Renditions and was brought back later by ImaginAsian in a DVD on Demand format.

Plot concept: In the year 2062, the world’s two superpowers are fighting a long and brutal war. In a desperate attempt to win, pilot Kei Katsuragi is given the mission to detonate a super weapon called the Space/Time Oscillation Bomb. The bomb explodes but the results are completely unexpected: a multitude of dimensions, times, and realities are unleashed into the world. Can Kei reverse the effects and bring life back to normal?
