It continues to be an exciting time to be a Yamato fan as the two films that are set to land in Japan later this year have new teasers available for them. Shochiku has released a teaser trailer for the first film, the compilation that will be titled Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Voyage of Remembrance as well as releasing a teaser for the second film. which will be all new, that’s called Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Star-Voyaging Ark. The compilation film will get the event screenings on October 11th, 2014 at select locations as it did before while the new film will get a national release on December 6th, 2014.
Plot concept: The year is 2199. Mother Earth is on the verge of breathing her last. Earth has been rendered a dead world by meteor bombs launched by Gamilas, a mysterious interstellar state. The time left to humanity, which has fled into underground cities, is a mere year.
Mankind’s final hope is the Yamato, which rests off of Kyushu’s Cape Bonomisaki – the Space Battleship Yamato! Believing in a message of salvation sent from the distant depths of the galaxy, the Yamato now sets sail with a young crew under the command of Captain Okita!
