Originally broadcast in 1999 and 2000, Bandai Visual Japan is gearing up to release Turn A Gundam in a pair of box sets this fall in Japan. Running for fifty episodes and marking the return of Yoshiyuki Tomino to the franchise after veering off with a few other properties for awhile, it’s been a mixed series for many but was one that stuck out with its style and approach. The show was slated for a North American released towards the end of the last decade, but with Bandai Entertainment being shuttered, all the plans fell through for it.

Details for the new release are pretty slim at the moment as no formal solicitations have come out, but a promo card has surfaced showing off what will be coming.  The series will get two box sets for release that will land on September 24th, 2014 and December 25th, 2014, with the price for the first one set at 32,000 yen. The release will be working off of a new print and HD telecine done and will include a hundred page booklet, the clean opening and closing sequences and a new audio commentary of some sort.

Plot concept: This story is set thousands of years in the future. The people of Earth have forgotten the space wars of the past, reverting back to a pre-industrial existence. But the lunar settlers known as the Moonrace, who have retained their high technology, now plan to seize their mother planet for themselves. As the war of the worlds begins, a young Moonrace citizen named Loran Cehack, pilot of the legendary Turn A Gundam, struggles to bridge the gap between humanity’s long-separated branches.
