Kadokawa has another of their spring 2014 anime series getting the home video release plans laid out recently with details for Fuun Ishin Dai☆Shogun announced. The twelve episode series is getting a standard six volume release on both formats where the DVDs will be priced at 6,600 yen each while the Blu-ray’s are priced at 7,600 yen each. The first volume is set to land on June 27th, 2014 with new volumes following monthly until completion. The first volume has had a couple of details released with what’s available, as well as the artwork which you can see to the right by clicking on it. The first press details for volume one includes a drama CD pack in, a special gatefold digipak release and a booklet while the on-disc extras includes the opening sequence so far with more to be announced. The property is an original work based on the story by Kazuya Sasakura that will be handled by JC Staff & ACGT with Takashi Watanabe directing. It’s bringing together giant robots and samurai with a good bit of romance as well by all appearances.

Plot concept: In the late Edo period, Japan had experienced an unprecedented crisis by Kurofune (Black Ships), the ships from foreign countries. But a giant robot called Onigami, which has existed since ancient time, dispelled the Kurofune ships and the exclusion of foreigners was accomplished. The story begins in Japan where Meiji restoration in 1868 didn’t happen.
