While it was largely predicted that the second season of Kuroko’s Basketball would run similar to the first season, it’s now been officially confirmed. The show will conclude after twenty-five episodes for this season, which means March 29th will be the final episode, bringing the total to fifty. There’s still a bit more to come through as the Japanese releases have a layout that indicates that there will be at least one unaired episode that will debut there, which is fairly standard practice these days to get people to buy or at least rent the releases.
The series has been quite popular in Japan, even with numerous events canceled over the last few years due to death threats against the creator from an aggrieved person. The original manga is still ongoing with twenty-five volumes published as of December 2013 and with the continued popularity, a third season is certainly has potential to be made, which will partially rest on the sales of the home video releases as well. Unfortunately, due to how poorly sports series sell in North America, Kuroko’s Basketball is still unlicensed here. The series does have a pretty strong following on Crunchyroll however as it’s streaming to viewers in North America, South America, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden,
Plot concept: An up-and-coming power player, Taiga Kagami, is just back from America. When he comes to Seirin High School, he meets the super-ordinary boy, Tetsuya Kuroko. Kagami is shocked to find that Kuroko isn’t good at basketball, in fact, he’s bad! And he’s so plain that he’s impossible to see. But Kuroko’s plainness lets him pass the ball around without the other team noticing him, and he’s none other than the sixth member of the Miracle Generation. less
